  1. One of the first human bones of the age of 35,000 years was found in Russia.

  7. Russia has a market economy with enormous natural resources, particularly oil and natural gas. It has the 10th largest economy in the world by nominal GDP and the 6th largest by purchasing power parity (PPP).
  8. The total area of cultivated land in Russia was estimated as 1,237,294 km2 in 2005, the fourth largest in the world.
  9. Science and technology in Russia blossomed. In the 19th and 20th centuries the country produced a large number of notable scientists and inventors.
